Hey, I'm Mahamoud — an Ottawa-based photographer shooting weddings, engagements, couples, and events across Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. I got into photography because I kept noticing that the best moments happen in the in-between — the laugh right before the first look, a quiet hand-hold during the ceremony, the way a room feels when everyone finally lets loose on the dance floor. I shoot relaxed and unobtrusive; no stiff posing, no shouting directions across a room. I just show up, get to know everyone, and let the day unfold. Being Somali-Canadian, I've grown up surrounded by big, loud, joyful celebrations, and that's shaped how I see and work — with warmth, energy, and a lot of heart. For weddings, the earlier the better — 6 to 12 months out is ideal, especially for summer and fall dates. Those weekends go fast. For portraits or smaller events, a few weeks notice usually works fine.
I shoot documentary-style — mostly candid, real moments, with some light direction when needed. Editing-wise I go for rich tones and a cinematic look. Nothing trendy that'll look dated in a few years.
Depends on the package — Essential comes with 100+, Signature with 400+, and Premium with 600+. For full weddings it often runs higher depending on how much is happening throughout the day.
7 days guaranteed across all packages. Most photographers take 4–8 weeks, which I think is too long to wait. Premium clients also get a sneak peek gallery within 48 hours of the event.
Yes — I shoot in Toronto and Montreal regularly, and I'm open to destination weddings anywhere in Canada. Travel to Toronto and Montreal can be added to any package. Just ask about pricing.
Rain honestly makes for some of the best photos — moody, dramatic, different. I've shot plenty of rainy days and always come prepared. We'll work with it.
A 50% retainer holds your date, with the remainder due 2 weeks before the event. If something comes up and you need to cancel, reach out — I'll always try to work something out.
Most people say this. Honestly, by the end of the shoot they forget I'm even there. I keep things low-key, give easy direction, and let things happen naturally. It usually works out just fine.
